Fiction Review: Paramedic Killer

Paramedic Killer, by Pat Patterson is the first book I’ve ever read by this author, but it certainly won’t be the last.

Paramedic Jim Stockridge works some awful parts of town. He and his work partner are called to a wreck—a van and a car, with not much left of either one of them. They rescue those they can, but when a fire starts and an explosion follows, there’s no way to rescue the rest. A number of people from one family perished. Those that survived were mangled and burned.

Six years later, paramedics are being killed in the most brutal manner, along with one relative of each. Reports come in of two characters wearing masks. One of them carries a shotgun with the end painted red. One day, they kill Jim’s friend.

Jim vows to find out who’s doing the killing. But, he’s next on their hit list.

This is one of those books that’s not for the faint of heart. There are some gory scenes, some fighting, and of course, murders.

There’s one use of a curse word and about two other crude words used only once each. The Christians in this book drink alcohol, and the women wear skimpy swimwear.

Although not a strongly Christian book, Paramedic Killer has good moral tone, and I got the idea that the protagonist Jim and several of the women in the story are true Christians.

This is an exciting adventure story, very well written. The author certainly knows his stuff. I looked him up, and he is a paramedic, as I suspected. The details are absolutely believable.

If you like adventure, Paramedic Killer has it. If you like a little bit of romance on the side, this book has that, too.

Because of the violence and gore, I would not recommend this for young people. There is no sexual innuendo.
